A cabasa (or cabaca) musical instrument 1 comprises a serrated cylindrical central body 2 around which is wound a string of beads 3 which rub against the body when the cabasa is moved, the friction producing a sound. An alternative method of operation is specified in which the central body is held stationary by a clamp 4, and a friction pad 5, having a rubber face 12 is moved against the beads to produce a sound. The clamp is attached to a hi-hat stand (14, figure 3), a hi-hat being a type of cymbal, and the friction pad is connected to a hi-hat drive chain (15, figure 3). |
