The invention describes a method for transferring data from a source address location to a destination address location within a memory address space of a computing system. The computing system comprises a data bus (DB) for transferring data as well as a main processor (CPU), and a secondary processor (SP) connected to the data bus (DB). Furthermore, it comprises a memory (M) connected to the data bus (DB) and at least one peripheral component (PC), each of them being connected to the data bus (DB). The method comprises the step of transferring data from the source address location to the destination address location by way of a DMA transaction without intervention of the main processor (CPU) during the transaction itself wherein for the DMA transaction a DMA channel is emulated by the secondary processor (SP).
