PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving control information in a wireless communication system are provided to transmit a new control signal using muting patterns and reference signal patterns defined in a mobile communication system. CONSTITUTION: Resources for transmitting a channel state information reference signal and the resources for applying muting are determined. The resources for transmitting a control signal for a first terminal are determined from the resources according to a muting pattern. The control information including the determined resource information is transmitted to a terminal. The resources for transmitting the control signal for the first terminal are applied to a second terminal by muting. The resources for transmitting the control signal for the first terminal are not overlapped with the channel state information reference signal and the resources for actually applying muting.
