<p>PURPOSE: A cutting assembly is provided to improve the efficiency of coolant transfer because coolant can be directly transferred to an interface of a workpiece. CONSTITUTION: A cutting assembly comprises a tool holder body. The tool holder body is composed of an axial forward end(28), an axial rearward end(30), a head region(34), and a shank region(32). The head region comprises a fastener bore, a coolant entrance passage, and a coolant transfer passage. The coolant intake passage and the fastener bore are fluid-communicated. The coolant transfer passage comprises an exit which makes coolant flow toward the cutting insert while fluid communicating with the fastener bore.</p> |
