PURPOSE: A fishing reel, the spool of the fishing reel, and the spool shaft of the fishing reel are provided to prevent the generation of errors in the relative position of a spool shaft and a spool. CONSTITUTION: A fishing reel comprises a spool(12) which reels fishing line, a spool shaft(16) which is made of a metal material and is mounted on the inner circumferential of the spool, and a DLC layer(82) which is formed on the outer layer of the spool shaft. The spool is made of a material with specific gravity lower than the metal used for the spool shaft.
