PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow any one of different random access processes to be selectively performed.

SOLUTION: A wireless terminal 20 selects either of preambles, one of which is used for random access according to a contention-based random access procedure and is randomly selected by the wireless terminal, and the other is used for random access according to a non-contention-based random access procedure and is allocated to the wireless terminal by a base station unit.
