The network system according to the present invention is provided with: computers and devices connected to one another by a network so as to be able to transmit and receive data, and (by means of a network) a system management device that controls the state of a system comprising computers and devices; the computers and devices are respectively provided with bridges that encapsulate transmission/reception data transmitted and received therebetween and transmit and receive said encapsulated data therebetween over a network; each bridge is provided with a control data transmission means that generates control data that controls system status on the basis of auxiliary control data used for controlling system status issued from a computer or device, and transmits the control data to the system management device via the network; and the system management device is provided with a system control means that controls the status of the system according to the control data received.
