<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light source device efficiently dissipating heat generated from a light source substrate with point light sources mounted thereon. <P>SOLUTION: The planar light source device includes a rear-face frame 1, a support member 6 fixed to the rear-face frame 1, a light source substrate 4 equipped with a mounting face 41 with point light sources 3 mounted thereon and a rear face 42 fixed to the support member 6, and a front frame 8 arranged opposite a part of the mounting face 41 of the light source substrate 4.
