<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating material which is excellent in elution suppressing effect such as a heavy metal or the like with a small addition, even if a contaminant of extremely high concentration is treated, and is capable of adjusting the pH of a treated product to 5.8-8.6. <P>SOLUTION: A material for treating the heavy metal or the like contains 5-50 parts mass magnesias (B), which satisfy all of the following conditions (B1)-(B3), based on 100 parts mass of at least one water-soluble salt selected from metal sulfate and metal chloride. The condition (B1) is that the magnesia contains partially the magnesium hydroxide produced by partially hydrating a fired material, which is obtained by firing a solid material based on magnesium carbonate and/or magnesium hydroxide at 650-1,000°C and contains magnesium oxide; the condition (B2) is that the magnesia has 1.5-12.0 mass% ignition loss rate when measured at 1,000°C; and the condition (B3) is that the magnesia has ≤3.0 mass% calcium content in terms of CaO. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
