<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high image quality in multi-window display in which a color area and luminance are specified for each window. <P>SOLUTION: Data specifying a display position, color area, and luminance is acquired for each window, and based on the display position of each window, a dedicated division area in which only one window is displayed and a sharing division area in which two or more windows are displayed are discriminated. The widest color area and highest luminance specified for the plurality of windows displayed in the sharing division area are set as a color area and a luminance for the sharing division area. A color area replacement or luminance correction is carried out only for a window in which a specified color area or luminance is different from the color area or luminance set in the sharing division area, among the plurality of windows displayed in the sharing division area.
