<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell that can appropriately remove impurities in a fuel electrode even when the supply pressure of remaining fuel drops. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes: a power generation section 2 that has a fuel electrode 23 supplied with a fuel, an oxidant electrode 22 supplied with an oxidant and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 21 sandwiched between the fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode, and that is supplied with the fuel of a predetermined pressure; a fuel electrode section 26 in the power generation section having a fuel supply space disposed opposite to the surface of the fuel electrode where the electrolyte membrane is arranged, and supplied with the fuel; and a fuel control section 5 for controlling the fuel supply to the fuel electrode section. The fuel control section performs stop control of stopping the fuel supply according to a physical quantity related to impurities accumulated in the fuel electrode by the reaction of the fuel and the oxidant and supply control of supplying the fuel to the fuel electrode section according to the physical quantity related to impurities, so that the pressure of the fuel by the supply control removes at least part of the impurities from the fuel electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
