摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor optical element and a semiconductor optical device capable of selectively detecting light with predetermined wavelength without using filter structure. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor optical element includes: a temperature detection part; and an absorption part 10 thermally connected to the temperature detection part, and detects light made incident on the absorption part 10, in which the absorption part 10 has a recess 11 and a projection arranged like an array on the surface so as to induce surface plasmon for coupling specific wavelength to the surface, and makes an absorption amount of incident light with the specific wavelength is larger than an absorption amount of incident light excluding the specific wavelength.
