The method involves switching a switching element (11) of a positive jaw clutch coupling (12) from a switch position into another switch position. An engine speed is increased to a switch-speed against the normal speed based on a gear-shift. The switching element is switched before or while the engine speed is reduced again to the normal speed. The engine speed is increased to about 10 percent based on the normal speed. An independent claim is also included for a drive train device for a motor vehicle.
