A secondary cell which uses oxidation/reduction by radical sites, wherein charging and discharging occur by back-and-forth movement (rocking-chair-type movement) of lithium ions between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. There is no need for an amount of anions sufficient for electrode doping during charging and discharging, and the amount of electrolyte solution is reduced. A secondary cell having high energy density is obtained. The electrode active material includes one or more types of polymer having a cation site capable of converting to a first cation, and an anion side capable of bonding with the first cation or a second cation.
