[Problem] To provide an exhaust gas cleaning device capable of limiting the shifting of the catalyst structure with respect to the cushioning material even when vigorous vibrations are applied during use without increasing the pressure of the cushioning material on the catalyst structure. [Solution] An exhaust gas cleaning device obtained by accommodating a catalyst structure (3), loaded with a metal catalyst, in a cylindrical container (1) with a cushioning material (2) therebetween, wherein the catalyst structure (3) is a sheet-shaped catalyst structure (3) obtained with a wet papermaking method, and said catalyst structure (3) has been fixed by being press-fitted into the cushioning material (2). In particular, a device obtained by forming oriented fibers (h) on the surface of the catalyst structure (3) that contacts the cushioning material (2), the fibers being oriented in a direction that is substantially orthogonal to the direction of press-fitting into said cushioning material (2).
