The invention relates to an air turbocharger system for internal combustion engines that makes it possible to obtain low temperatures of the engine intake air. It is known that engine torque is directly linked to the air mass that can be aspirated into the engine during each intake cycle. The use of a compressor to turbocharge the engine compresses air before it is admitted into the engine. Thus, with the same air volume, a much greater air mass is obtained, due to compression, and hence more fuel can be injected, achieving a higher power for the same engine. However, the air forced by the compressor into the engine cylinders is even further compressed by the piston, increasing the risk of so-called detonation. The higher the air intake pressure and temperature into the cylinder, the greater is the risk of detonation. In the proposed system, air temperature is lowered to values that are lower than those obtained by conventional turbocharger assemblies, which is an extremely desirable result, since it makes it possible to reduce the risk of detonation and to improve engine output.
