The invention relates to a cutting insert (2) comprising a supporting surface (4) on the bottom side thereof, a centre cutting edge (14), two secondary cutting edges (16, 18) that are formed on both sides of the centre cutting edge (14) and are offset relative to the centre cutting edge (14), and two transition edges (20, 22), which respectively connect the centre cutting edge (14) to the adjacent secondary cutting edges (16, 18). Each of the two secondary cutting edges (16, 18) is formed vertically offset and optionally also offset in depth with respect to the centre cutting edge (14), and laterally spaced from the centre cutting edge (14). The transition edges (20, 22) each have in an edge overlap-free region at least over one section (50) an inclination n of 2° = n = 20° relative to a vertical direction (H) running perpendicularly to a primary extension plane of the supporting surface (4). |
