The invention relates to a modular construction that is made from an assembly of prefabricated modules that includes: a first assembly of metal, double "U"-shaped exterior sections (11) that are horizontally secured to anchoring supports, forming the exterior envelope of the building, and a second assembly of metal exterior sections (11) that are vertically placed as pillars; and an assembly of structural exterior blocks (12) made of a plastic material in the outer channel of the double "U" of the second set of sections, the height of which is a whole fraction of the height of the sections of the second assembly. The method includes: placing anchor supports on a supporting base for the building; placing the first assembly of exterior sections onto anchor supports and attaching same thereto, and placing the second assembly of exterior sections onto said first assembly of exterior sections and attaching same thereto; and completing the exterior of the structure with framing and covering panels.
