<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus that has a power saving mode, wherein an image forming apparatus and an image reading apparatus effectively perform switching of the power saving mode and a non-power saving mode. <P>SOLUTION: An MFP (Multi Functional Peripheral) 100 has the power saving mode and a ready mode (non-power saving mode) as a mode that controls the state of the power supply to the receiving part that receives a job. Moreover, the MFP 100 prepares at least two stopping conditions to switch from the non-power saving mode to the power saving mode. Among these, the second condition does not satisfy easily than the first condition.
