The invention relates to separator for a mixture of liquid and gas, including an injection device (2), a separation chamber (30) having a substantially cylindrical inner surface and extending along a vertical axis, and a control chamber (40). The mixture is separated, in the separation chamber, into a gas and liquid, with a substantially cylindrical interface surface. The separation chamber (30) includes a first axial outlet for extracting the gas, a second outlet for extracting the liquid, and a third axial outlet in communication with the control chamber. Under normal operating conditions, the interface surface has a diameter between the diameter of the first outlet and the diameter of the third outlet. The control chamber (40) is connected to the injection device via a return circuit (16).
