The present invention relates to a method and device for preventing locking of the rear drive wheel without losing the advantages of engine braking in motorcycles or similar vehicles with cardan-type transmission, which are characterized by detection of the conditions close to those of rear-wheel locking by measuring the axial traction or compression force in the reaction stay or in the element acting as reaction stay and characterized by acting on the clutch actuation, the clutch engaging in such a manner as to limit the retention torque transmitted to the engine, allowing slipping in the clutch. The invention may be used in motorcycles and similar vehicles such as three-wheelers with cardan-type transmission and suspensions composed of four-bar mechanisms.
