PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antioxidant containing an extract of black ginger, an anti-aging agent, an anti-inflmmatory agent, a hair growing agent, an anti-obesity agent, a whitening agent, a beautification material and food and drink for beautification.

SOLUTION: There are provided the antioxidant, the anti-aging agent, the anti-inflmmatory agent, the hair growing agent, the anti-obesity agent or the beautification material which contains the extract of the black ginger and also has at least one of: a superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like behavior; a hyperoxidation suppressing behavior of member lipid caused by singlet oxygen; a hyperoxide hydrogen eliminating behavior; a radical eliminating behavior; an MMP-2 activation inhibiting behavior;an MMP-9mRNA expression rise suppressing behavior; an epidermal keratinocytes increase acceleration behavior; a hexosaminidase separation suppressing behavior; an NO-production suppressing behavior; a hyaluronidase activation inhibiting behavior; a COX-2 activation inhibiting behavior; an androgen receptor antagonistic behavior; a human hair dermal papilla cell increase acceleration behavior; a cAMP-phosphodiesterase activation inhibiting behavior; a lipocatabolic acceleration behavior; an ET-1mRNA expression rise inhibiting behavior; and an SCFmRNA expression rise inhibiting behavior.
