The present invention relates to a monitoring device and corresponding method for generating a first and a second image stream of subsequent video frames. The monitoring device comprises an image sensor unit (16) arranged to capture images and to output an image sensor signal, and a signal processing unit (20, 20') arranged to receive and process the image sensor signal, wherein the monitoring device is arranged, by means of the image signal processing unit (20, 20'), to process the image sensor signal twice in order to generate the first and the second image streams of subsequent video frames wherein different exposure times are emulated for the video frames of the first and second image streams.
