The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing electrodes. The method of the invention includes the steps of a) creating insulating material areas I around areas Z when said areas I are not already present; b) deposition, by means of electrografting, of a polymer P prepared from a diazonium salt or vinyl monomer salt, or a mixture of the above, onto the conductive or semi-conductive material that forms the areas Z; c) coating the nanoparticles with a coating material that includes a bifunctional molecule capable of creating a bond with the nanoparticles and a bond with the polymer P; d) suspending the coated nanoparticles obtained in Step c) in a solvent, preferably a coating material solution used in Step c); e) immersing the substrate S obtained in Step b) into the suspension obtained in Step d); and f) removing the polymer P. The invention is in particular useful for manufacturing electrodes.
