The column has an elongated lower steering shaft connected to an orientation control member of wheels by a lower longitudinal edge. A guiding unit guides the shaft to rotate with respect to a chassis of vehicle around a longitudinal axis. The shaft has an upper longitudinal section (35) comprising a portion (45) forming a hollow channel that has a side opening (53) oriented along a side direction, where the opening is formed by longitudinal edges (55, 57). The section has a set of tongues (51), where each tongue is secured to one of the edges and extended across the opening. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a steering wheel of motor vehicle. |
