PURPOSE: A stereoscopic image display device and an upper plate manufacturing method thereof are provided to enlarge a vertical viewing angle and increase brightness of a 2D image. CONSTITUTION: A pattern retarder(300) is matched with a liquid crystal display panel. The pattern retarder passes first polarization light through a first pattern. The pattern retarder passes second polarization light through a second pattern. Polarized glasses(310) comprise a left-eye filter and a right-eye filter. Only the first polarization light passes through the left-eye filter. Only the second polarization light passes through the right-eye filter.
