[Also in Group XXX] A cable stopper of the socket-and-wedge type comprises the rope 8 looped round the wedge 1, the loose end of the rope engaging a V-groove in the sliding member (shown as the wedge) and the taut end of the rope engaging the sliding face of the sliding member. As shown, the wedge 1 slides inside socket 3 fixed by a bolt through aperture 2. Wedge 1 is formed with a V-groove 4 and a flat face 5 so that, when the rope is pulled at 6, the free end 8 of the rope urges the wedge into the socket to lock the rope. |
