PURPOSE: An anti-inflammatory composition using Ficus erecta leaf extract is provided to suppress IL-1beta generation and iNOS and COX-2 expression. CONSTITUTION: An anti-inflammatory composition contains Ficus erecta leaf extract as an active ingredient. The extract is selected from: extract prepared with alcohol of 1-5 carbon atoms, acetone, hexane, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, water or a mixture thereof; extract of a fraction solvent layer prepared by fractioning solid extract with water and hexane, water and dichloromethane, or water and ethyl acetate; and extract prepared by suspending the solid extract in the water and fractioning with hexane, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate in order. The composition is a pharmaceutical composition and food composition.
