<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surroundings monitoring apparatus capable of measuring a position of another vehicle with high accuracy by an easy method. <P>SOLUTION: The surroundings monitoring apparatus includes a detection means and a measurement means. The detection means sets a prescribed area on a road surface in one's own vehicle travel direction as a detection area, and detects a light projection pattern formed in the detection area by associating positional relationship between a projection position formed with the light projection pattern and the position of the other vehicle to size of the light projection pattern, by the other vehicle. The measurement means measures the positional relationship between the projection position and the other vehicle based on the size of the light projection pattern detected by the detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
