<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous separator which prevents flooding, surpresses pressure loss, and provides uniform flow distribution, since a separator with its gas flow channel structured of a porous material tends to get repellency of product water, uniform dispersion of reaction gas, a large pressure loss or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The separator is so structured that reaction gas is supplied to a porous layer separated into an upper and a lower steps, with a flow channel equipped with an occluded part and an open part so that the upper and the lower steps change with each other on the way.
