The system comprises a consumer that is supplied with power through a supply line. The electrical energy and the data are transmitted through the supply line. A power signal (1) and a data signal (2) are transmitted alternately. A switchgear unit is provided for the separation of the supply line from the power supply. An independent claim is also included for a method for data communication system, where a power signal and a data signal are transmitted alternately over a supply line.
