PURPOSE: A composition for promoting red blood cell production which includes quercetin 3-O-beta--(2"- GALLOYL)- rhamnopyranoside is provided to increase expression of EPO(erythropoeitin), cytokine stem cell factor, and granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor in a concentration-dependent method. CONSTITUTION: A composition for promoting red blood cell production which includes quercetin 3-O-beta--(2"- GALLOYL)- rhamnopyranoside which is represented by chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The erythropoiesis is from marrow originated hematogenesis stem cell. A composition for treating, preventing, or improving erythropenia includes 3-O-beta- (2"- galloyl) -rhamnopyranoside represented by the chemical formula 1 as the active ingredient. The composition is the pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing the erythropenia. The composition is functional food composition for improving of the erythropenia. The erythropenia is anemia, aplastic anemia, myeoldysplasia, or erythropenia caused by the side effects of the myeoldysplasia.
