A device for preventing dirt entering and fluid leaving bearing surfaces of two relatively rotatable parts comprises two elements respectively connected to the parts and provided with contacting sealing faces, and means for maintaining the faces together, which faces are provided with intermeshing grooves and projections concentric about the axis of rotation, which grooves on at least one face in crosssection have converging side faces and which projections on the opposite face are so formed as to contact the side faces of the grooves opposite them but stop short of the bottoms thereof. The particular embodiments described are identical with those described in Specification 737,787. Specification 737,859 also is referred to.
