PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize effective protection to avoid damage due to overvoltage during load dump.

SOLUTION: To identify existence of load dump, it is checked whether phase voltage of a generator device in each half-wave period exceeds a prescribed threshold. When the existence of load dump is identified, the phase voltage is reduced to a prescribed voltage smaller than the threshold using a voltage limit.
