<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a bevel gear, and to improve power transmission efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A power transmission device 30 for an outboard motor includes a drive shaft 21 which is driven by an engine, and a propeller shaft 23 which is driven by the drive shaft 21 through a bevel gear mechanism 28. The bevel gear mechanism 28 includes a driving bevel gear 22 mounted on the drive shaft 21, and a driven bevel gear 24 for forward movement and a driven bevel gear 25 for backward movement mounted to the propeller shaft 23 and meshed with the driving bevel gear 22, the driving bevel gear 22, and the driven bevel gear 24 for forward movement, and the driven bevel gear 25 for backward movement are composed of straight bevel gears. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
