<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a driving method for the same, in which the occurrence of a residual image when the power is turned off can be avoided. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer LQ, a plurality of scan lines GL, a plurality of signal lines SL, a plurality of pixel switches SWP, a plurality of first electrodes, a scan line driving circuit GD, a second electrode, a voltage supply wire W1, a control mechanism, a first switching mechanism, a second switching mechanism, and an output timing switching mechanism. Each of the first switching mechanism and the second switching mechanism can be switched into a conductive state or a non-conductive state based on a control signal given from the control mechanism.
