<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device which can reduce unnecessary avoidance support. <P>SOLUTION: A driving support device 1 according to this invention comprises: obstacle detection means to detect information about an obstacle; remaining time calculation means to calculate the remaining time before an own vehicle reaching the closest point to a current position of the obstacle; future position estimate means to estimate a future position of the obstacle when the remaining time passes; avoidance target area setting means to set an avoidance target area that the own vehicle should avoid; and travel route setting means to set a travel route avoiding the avoidance target area.
