<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saccharifying method capable of obtaining a syrup with high saccharide concentration, to provide a method for producing ethanol by ethanol fermentation of such a syrup obtained by the saccharifying method, and to provide a method for the pretreatment of cellulose, usable in the saccharifying method. <P>SOLUTION: The saccharifying method for obtaining a syrup from a cellulose-containing feedstock is provided, being characterized by comprising a heat-softening step of softening the cellulose-containing feedstock under heating and pressurization; a defibrating step of defibrating the heat-softened product obtained by the preceding step under heating and pressurization; and a saccharifying step of obtaining the objective syrup by subjecting the pretreatment product obtained by the preceding step to saccharifying treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
