<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the frequency of bidirectional printing. <P>SOLUTION: In each of a plurality of blocks in partial image data corresponding to a unit print area printed by one main scan of a printing head, it is determined whether or not the block is a restriction block to be printed by the main scan in a fixed direction, on the basis of an estimated ink amount to be used for printing. Specifically, in a boundary block located in the vicinity of the boundary of the partial image data, when the schedule ink amount is larger than a first amount, it is determined as the restriction block.
