<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitted light selection device, and stereoscopic image display device and method, which are capable of reducing an image deterioration caused by a degree of coherence of light, such as speckle. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitted light selection device includes: a first light selection part 2a having a polarization filter 4a for letting an image light of either one of polarizing directions transmit through, and a phase-difference film 5A for giving a phase difference to light transmitting through the polarization filter 4a and outputting the light to an observer-side as light in which beams having plural polarizing directions are mixed; a second light selection part 2b having a polarization filter 4b having the direction of a polarization light transmission axis orthogonal to that of the polarization filter 4a, and a phase-difference film 5B for giving a phase difference to light transmitting through the polarization filter 4b and outputting the light to the observer-side as light in which beams having plural polarizing directions are mixed; with the phase-difference films 5A and 5B having at least two zones in which the directions of polarization light transmission axes are different, and placing the polarization filters on the image display device-side and the phase-difference films on the observer-side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
