<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid incorrect reset of the counter of timeout processing in response to a status request to a job which is not under processing in a printer connected to a network. <P>SOLUTION: This printer in a print system having an information processor and a printer includes: assignment means for receiving a print start request from the information processor, and for assigning an identifier to a job; timeout processing means for managing the timeout of the processing of a job by using a time measurement part; first acquisition means for receiving a status acquisition request from the information processor, and for acquiring an identifier included in the status acquisition request; second acquisition means for acquiring the identifier assigned to the job under processing; and comparison means for comparing the identifier acquired by the first acquisition means with the identifier acquired by the second acquisition means.
