<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for treating a used paper diaper treatable in a state taken out from a user. <P>SOLUTION: The device 1 for treating the used paper diaper includes a stirring and separating tank 10 for receiving and stirring the cut used paper diaper D and a treating liquid Q, to separate a regenerating substance P of the paper diaper (containing a base material component PL and a water absorptive substance component PM of the paper diaper) from a plastic component V, the first recovery tank 11 for receiving the treating liquid Q containing the regenerating substance P discharged from the stirring and separating tank 10, and the second recovery tank 12 for receiving the treating liquid Q containing the regenerating substance P discharged from the stirring and separating tank 10.
