<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve efficient synchronous processing. <P>SOLUTION: In an information processing system having a hierarchical structure of servers, each server identifies its own position within a layer (S12) in the case of not receiving a synchronization request from others (S10:no), and when it is a route server (S24:yes), extracts an object to be synchronized downwards from a synchronization setting table, also extracts synchronization information from the extracted synchronization object (S26), and requests synchronization to a lower server (S28), and when it is a terminal server, extracts an object to be synchronized upwards from the synchronization setting table, extracts synchronization information from the extracted synchronization object (S20), and requests synchronization to an upper server for the information (S22).
