<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manipulation apparatus capable of performing prompt fault diagnosis. <P>SOLUTION: When a switch group 1 is operated (S130:YES), photo interrupter diagnosis processing is executed in S140. In the photo interrupter diagnosis processing, it is determined whether or not a manipulation knob is moved and when the manipulation knob is moved, reaction force toward the center is applied to the manipulation knob. When a switch group 2 is operated (S130:NO), on the other hand, switch diagnosis processing is executed in S150. In the switch diagnosis processing, a switch illumination is flickered.
