<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of performing correct life management even after exchange of an image forming unit, which is a consumable. <P>SOLUTION: A printer control unit 30 for controlling the whole printer includes EEPROM 31. A memory tag 22 to be accessed by the printer control unit 30 is disposed in an image forming unit 20. The memory tag 22 has type information to show that the image forming unit is a product for maintenance replacement. As a result, when service staff exchange a faulty image forming unit 20 at the request of a user, they change the life of an image forming unit 20 after the exchange into "life before the exchange" - "the used amount before the exchange," so that the total length of life remains the same regardless of the exchange of the image forming unit 20 and correct life management can be performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
