<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a control method for an idling stop system that can achieve quick restart even when a restart request is generated prior to pre-mesh. <P>SOLUTION: The idling stop system stops an engine when idling stop conditions are satisfied during engine operation, and restarts the engine at a restart request by causing a pinion 103 of a starter motor 105 to mesh with a ring gear 104 linked to a crankshaft of the engine to start cranking. The control device 108 prerotates the pinion 103 of the starter motor 105 during an engine inertial rotation period until stopping of the engine, and when an engine restart request is generated after termination of prerotation energization of the starter motor 105, additionally prerotates the pinion 103 of the starter, and then causes the pinion to mesh with the ring gear 104 and starts cranking to restart the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
