<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that uses permissible power of a commercial power supply during image formation more effectively than before, and efficiently supplies power to a fixing and heating device. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a fixing current calculation unit 511 that feeds back current value detected by a second current detection unit 46, and calculates value of current supplied to an excitation coil setting rating current value of a commercial power supply as a target value; a permissible current calculation unit 512 that subtracts value obtained by subtracting the rating current value of the commercial power supply from the total drive current value of the entire apparatus from the current value detected by the second current detection unit 46, and calculates value of current supplied to an excitation coil 43; an IH control unit 41 that calculates frequency corresponding to the current value calculated by the fixing current calculation unit 511 and the permissible current calculation unit 512; and a switching unit 513 that switches between the fixing current calculation unit 511 and the permissible current calculation unit 512 to calculate value of current supplied to the excitation coil 43 in accordance with the total drive current value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
