PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound having no fluorescence characteristics and having a high melting point, high refractive properties together with reaction diversity originated in a bisphenol structure; and to provide a method ffor manufacturing the same, a derivative of the same, a composition containing the same, and a cured product obtained from the composition.

SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (1) [wherein X represents an (n1+1) valent aromatic group which may have a substituent; Y represents an (n2+1) valent aromatic group which may have a substituent; n1and n2each independently are an integer of 1-3].
