<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum-type washing machine capable of safely stopping in occurence of an unbalance malfunction in a dewatering process. <P>SOLUTION: The drum type washing machine includes: a washing machine housing 41 for elastically supporting a wash tub unit 49 of a vibrating system; vibration detection means 78 provided in a wash tub 42 and capable of detecting vibration components in three-dimensional directions; rotational frequency detection means 90 for detecting a rotational frequency of a rotating drum 43; operation display means 79 including input setting means 80 and display means 96; alert means 87; and control means 82 for controlling each process. The control means 82, in a dewatering process, selects detection axes showing maximum values of vibration values in the three-dimensional directions of the wash tub unit 49 detected by the vibration detection means 78; and when vibration values detected by the vibration axes exceed first threshold values and become lower than second thresholds, the values being set per rotational frequency region, starts the dewatering process again; and when vibration values detected by the detection axes exceed the first threshold values and the second threshold values, stops the dewatering process to make a malfunction display and a malfunction alert.
