<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum-type washing machine which achieves low vibration and low noise in a dewatering process. <P>SOLUTION: A drum-type washing machine includes control means 50. The control means 50 controls a motor 34 in a dewatering process to operate for a predetermined time at a first dewatering rotation rate which is not greater than a resonance point of a water tub unit 61; and when motor current detecting means 60 detects an entry of a motor current into a predetermined range, increases the rotation rate to operate at a second dewatering rotation rate set in a rotation rate zone for a predetermined time, the zone being sufficiently separated from a resonance point of the water tub unit 61, producing centrifugal force exerted on the laundry in a rotation drum 30 which is not greater than a predetermined value, and having a high correlation between a vibrational amplitude of the water tub unit 61 at that time and a vibrational amplitude of the water tub unit 61 in dewatering at a high rotation rate; and when vibration detecting means 58 detects that the vibrational amplitude of the water tub unit 61 is within a predetermined range, increases the rotation rate up to a predetermined maximum dewatering rotation rate.
